Unite and Fight is a boxing event featuring Twin Cities police, firefighters and medical personnel. This year's event proceeds benefited Sergeant Craig Gromek, age 53. Gromek is a 30 year police veteran and was diagnosed with ALS and Dementia in August of 2014. The event was held at at Uppercut Boxing Gym in NE Minneapolis and was a huge success once again. She is beginning her career as a model and contacted me several months ago. We began chatting and decided to collaborate on a shoot with my make up artist friend, Rachel Duclos. Rachel did an amazing job on Annie's make up and Annie was a dream to work with. She is gorgeous all around and very smart - she headed off to the state science fair after our shoot. Our session took place in Northeast Minneapolis and since it was a beautifully rare 60 degree March day, we ventured outside.

For his senior photo session, we met in downtown Anoka to take advantage of the old and unique architecture as well as the beautiful fall colors that were beginning to emerge. It was a lovely fall day in Minnesota and the area was buzzing with other photographers. We found some quiet, lesser traveled areas and ended up with a fantastic session... if I do say so myself! :)

I'm so excited for Cori and her fiance Paul and cannot wait until their wedding next summer. They are getting married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, MN. Our mothers grew up in Sleepy Eye and St Mary's is the church we grew up going to on holidays while visiting our grandparents.

For Cori and Paul's engagement session, we headed out to Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis. Beautiful fall evening and the park was busy with other photographers. Cori and Paul went to Minnehaha Falls on their second date so it was the perfect setting for their photos.

I'm a huge cat fan. Always have been and always will be. No shame here! I especially have a fondness for tabby cats like this guy. So stinking cute! If you know me or follow my posts on facebook you've probably seen photos of my cat Pepper who is also a tabby. I got Pepper at the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, MN almost exactly 4 years ago. Although she sometimes drives me bonkers, I can't imagine my life without a cat in it. I mean who else can catch and kill a housefly in less than 5 seconds? She keeps me safe! She also once proudly brought a bird into my apartment, but that is a story for another day! Prior to Pepper, my family had two other tabby cats, Trixie and Max. Trixie and I basically grew up together. We got her when I was in first grade and she made it 17 cat-tastic years. Max was only with us for about 5 years, but they both hold a very special place in my heart.

They teamed up with Minneapolis Animal Care & Control and are fostering the 6 kittens featured in this post until they are old enough to be adopted in a few weeks. Mike and Kayla already have 2 dogs and 2 cats of their own, all rescues like these guys, so it is pretty cool that they made space in their home for 6 more. Please help spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested in adopting a kitty. Otherwise Mike and Kayla will really have a full house once they get bigger. I think I'd be the only person crazy enough to still visit them with 8 grown cats and 2 dogs running around. Hey, we all have a little crazy cat lady in us. Master of the serious face and adorable when he smiles, he was the perfect subject. It was so fun working along side Kara for the shoot. Kirsten at KME Photography was looking for a second shooter to help her photograph a boxing benefit for St. Paul Firefighters. Proceeds from the event went towards medical bills for firefighters with cancer. All Kirsten had to say was "firefighters" and I knew I had to be a part of this awesome event! The boxers participating were all local police, firefighters, ER and EMS personnel. These guys and girls were tough!

I had never seen boxing in person, only in movies so I really had no idea what to expect. I have to say it was more awesome that I ever could have expected! I was right up against the action. Literally. I was leaning up against the ring for the majority of the event. I even had to back up on occasion to make sure my camera (and my face!) didn't get smashed. Very exciting. In fact WAY more exciting than my usual shoots. While I enjoy my usual work (photographing real estate virtual tours, portraits and weddings) houses don't move and normal every day people don't move very fast. Unite and Fight was a whole new experience and test of my abilities. I think I passed the test and am definitely interested in photographing more sporting events.

Esera Tuaolo, former Vikings player, KILLED the national anthem. He was one of the first people I noticed when arriving at the gym. I think he was the biggest guy in the whole crowd.
